Anyone notice just how well the book itself conveys what happened here? It's not just the words, but the writing and the marks on the page. The handwriting is neat at first, but it becomes sloppier and more hurried as it goes on, giving a sense of panic. The last line is practically a child's scrawl; you can imagine the scribe dashing down that last line as the enemies began to break down the door. The line before the last breaks off in a jerky line of ink, like what happens when you're startled by, say…axes banging on the doors? Oh, and let's not forget the bloodstains. Yeesh. Props to Peter Jackson for conveying all the horror of this siege in this one little book.

Until now i always believes that Peter Jackson made this trilogy with some kind of magic. I love the LOTR trilogy, it has everything from epic to dramatic and emotional moments like this, a fantastic story, iconic characters portrayed by a really good cast, awesome special effects and on top of that a memorable soundtrack.
